Summer Picnics and Yard Sales at La Macchina Fissa

We call them "Yard Sales" if they're spread out in the lawn or "Garage Sales" if they're where we normally park our cars. They're always more fun to visit than host, so come on over to La Macchina Fissa and see what's for sale, what's growing in the garden, and what's cooking on the grill! You'll also be invited to have a go in our informal badminton court or on our slightly more professional croquet lawn.

15 euro renews your membership (if it has expired) and covers the cost of all food and drinks.

We have three weekends of "Noon to Nine" picnics and sales coming up for 2026:

The first event, on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May, includes a poetry reading of works by Mauro Furgeri, who will be with us on Saturday at 5pm. He is closely connected to the nearby Po River towns of Suzzara and Luzzara, where he has lived for many years.

The second weekend will be Saturday 27/Sunday 28 June, and includes a book presentation by the naturalist and nature guide Valentina Vitali who shares with us her passion for birds in her new book "Anima animale".

The third weekend is scheduled for Saturday 25/Sunday 26 July

Instead of moving everything for sale outside on the lawn or into the garage onto tables, the doors of nearly all the rooms of the house will be open and everyone is welcome to snoop around and go through books and objects that need new homes! Bring coins and some small bills, and take home a few pre-loved treasures, or bring more and buy a painting! We're Selling Books, CDs, DVDs, Baskets, Bowls, Ladders, Chairs, Cupboards, Ropes, tools, toys, Clark objects, small furniture, and much more...

*Important: Please let me know if you are coming over so I know how much food to prepare; a day or two in advance is sufficient. And if you decide to come last minute, come anyway, without a reservation.
