We Have a New Website!
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
Reading Retreats has a NEW WEBSITE! Please share it generously with good people and, if you have a moment, help us find any little typos or bugs that might be in the woodwork. Like all websites, it is a work in progress!
Reading Retreats in Rural Italy
The new site includes many photos of our former locations, so people in our future can know about our past and can better understand what we have done and where we have been since 1996. "Il Cerro" is our fifth home in Italy. We've seen so many beautiful places, plants, pets, paintings, and people! The people page is the digital equivalent of our family photo album, and if you scroll through it, you might find a photo of yourself at one of our concerts or events. It's a huge family! Send me your photos (taken any year at any of our properties) if you would like to be added.
There is an Acknowledgements Page on the website, but this is the right time and place to mention some people who have given so much of their time and talents to making the new website a reality: Our new webmaster, Luca Nespoli, is an employee of the University of Florence. He's the IT guy who is taking care of all the technical issues of links, applying to become a member or intern, the member's list, our upcoming book list, how to make reservations for events, how to send donations through the site, how to find us on your devices but also in real life, and so much more. He has been working on this for months while collaborating with Riccardo Gatti (who brought volunteers to La Macchina Fissa this spring and helped us create the beginnings of an impressive book list... and also updated our situation on Google Maps) and two of our former volunteer webmasters, Massimiliano Squartini (who has been helping Reading Retreats since 1999), and Giacomo Neri, who took over creating and managing our sites as the association grew at the Castle of Galeazza, moved to Corte Eremo after the earthquakes of 2012, and then arrived at La Macchina Fissa in 2015.
Over the past few months, I've had over 100 people ask to see photos of the new place, and images I will provide, but please be patient! Certain friends who are professional photographers have been following our association for years, and their work makes the website interesting even for people who don't read it... we will add new images regularly as we discover our new space and as our photographer friends come to visit. Thank you John Campbell, Sven Fennema, Sara Goia, Max Salani, Emilio Tremolada.

Just a reminder: We're driving up to the new location every Sunday of August: 2,9,16,23, 30. If you would like to join us, please arrive at La Macchina Fissa around noon to load up your cars and vans or trucks. We will depart at 2 pm after a light lunch and arrive at Podere il Cerro (Lugagnano Val d'Arda) around 4pm. After we empty our vehicles and scope out the joint, we'll sit down to aperitivi and, for those who can stay a bit longer, a sunset stroll and dinner on the patio in front of the barn.
Enjoy scrolling and clicking around on readingretreats.com, and hope to see you soon! Please let me know if you can make it for one or more of our cavarans in August so I know how much food to buy!
