Clark's Art Collection

John Campbell painting - Art Collection

Clark has been collecting paintings since 1994. It all began with a monotype by the Greek painter Pavlos Habidis that he saw in the Paratiritis Art Gallery and Bookstore in Thessaloniki. Clark curates annual art exhibitions with contemporary artists from around the world, so his home (and the seat of Reading Retreats in Rural Italy) has become both an art gallery for temporary shows and a house museum with a permanent collection that features over 500 artworks from the artists listed below. Many of them have stayed for up to one month on the property as part of an "artist in residence" program, which explains why many of their works feature the landscapes, architecture, plants, or even animals that you might see when you come to stay with us.

Coming Soon

Time at Reading Retreats is always busy—a vibrant blur of creative energy, hosting artists, and preserving this historic house. Amidst this beautiful chaos, we are carefully framing our next project: a dedicated digital artwork display. Soon, you will be able to explore our paintings, sculptures, and other pieces online.
